Fried sotong!! Super delicious!! Oosh!! XP
Was officially fired by Sports World today for mistakes that I am not even sure were done by me???
Last Saturday was my first working day after having my induction training 3 weeks ago. As per the company policy, my supervisor checked the till that I was working on before I left. She told me there was a shortage of three 20 pounds notes, but an extra of three 10 pounds notes. Hence, I must have made mistakes while giving change to the customers, i.e. mixing up the 20 and 10 pounds notes.
Well, I seriously dunno how she came up with that conclusion. I could accept if she just told me there was a shortage of 30 pounds altogether. But HOW ON EARTH could she have known that I mixed the notes up? She weren't even there when I was on duty. I remember checking and re-confirming the change everytime before I gave them to the customers.. Could I have made the mistakes?
Could it be that the three 20 pounds notes weren't missing but were changed to 5 pounds notes already instead? A transaction of 60 pounds could be paid with three 20 pounds or six 10 pounds or twelve 5 pounds or a mixture of them!! How could she be so sure? The flow of customers were so huge somemore on that day...
Could she have simply done the calculation wrongly?? She counted the money without my presence... Hmm...
I just know that there was no evidence to prove my innocence and that it wouldn't be convincing even if I explain. So, I just had to admit that it WAS my mistake.
My supervisor was kinda nice, though. She told me not to worry too much since it's normal for trainee to make mistakes, but I should be more careful next time and that she would go through the training with me again. She mentioned that it was also possible that the person who arranged the petty cash earlier on had put the notes in the wrong trays, which later on lead to MY mistakes. Whatever it was, I was told to go back again for my shift on Wednesday, i.e. today.
I was summoned to the office before I even started working... I was so naive to actually think that there might be some stocks in the office, waiting to be put onto the shelves, and that's why I was called upon there...
Obviously it didn't turn out that way...
I was told that I had to go... My supervisor reported the loss to the manager, Richie (who bravo-ly happened to be the one who initially didn't allow me and Lu Yi to work for not having a National Insurance number) and thus, he made the decision of sacking me.. According to him, one mistake was acceptable, but since I had mixed up three 20 pounds with 10 pounds, I had made the same mistake thrice and so I had to go...
WTH?!?!? What sort of conclusion was that? Again, HOW ON EARTH could they have known that I made (assuming I did) the mistakes under three different occasions? Couldn't I have handed them out together at one go, for example, while giving 30 pounds change back to the customer???
I really couldn't help but wonder if Richie had intentionally seized the opportunity to send me off because of his ridiculous no-NI-and-so-you-can't-work theory??? It's totally legal!! Just that he himself is too ignorant to be aware of it!!!
Also, when I worked in Hong Kong Cafe last time, the change to be given back was not even displayed on the monitor. I had to do the calculation by heart yet I never made any of such mistake. Could I have done so when this time, the amount to be given back was clearly displayed? I really wonder... Was it a set-up???
Sigh... What else can I say? Suan le ba... Didn't even bother to explain since it wouldn't make any difference in the end.. Moreover, it's not like I can't make the ends meet without this job.. Maybe I should even thank them for not accusing me of stealing?!?!?
But it's kinda stupiak that I woke up so early this morning just to be informed that I had been sacked by them!! Couldn't they have told me earlier on? Wasted my precious sleeping hours only... Grrrr...
Feeling kinda sucky now.. Aiya... Whatever la... Shit them... It's their loss for sacking me anyways.
So City G8, here I come!!! Haha...
